Specialist Dyslexia Assessments

Clear answers, delivered to recognised professional standards.

A full diagnostic assessment gives you an evidence-based understanding of a young person's cognitive and literacy profile, and a clear route to the right support — whether that's a first diagnosis, or evidence for exam access arrangements. This service is for children and young people up to age 18.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does an assessment take?

A full diagnostic assessment typically takes around 3 hours, sometimes split across two sessions for younger children or where additional breaks are needed.

Is the report recognised by schools, colleges and exam boards?

Yes. Assessments follow SASC (SpLD Assessment Standards Committee) guidance, so reports are suitable for use with schools, colleges, universities, employers and exam boards for access arrangements.

What's the difference between a screening and a full assessment?

A screener can indicate a likelihood of dyslexia but cannot provide a formal diagnosis. A full diagnostic assessment is needed for a formal diagnosis and for exam access arrangements evidence.

Is there an upper age limit for assessments?

Yes — diagnostic dyslexia assessments are available for children and young people up to age 18. If you're an adult looking for workplace support, our Workplace Neurodiversity Solutions may be a better starting point.

How much does an assessment cost?

A full diagnostic assessment is £500. If you've had a Reading & Dyslexia Profile (£100) with us first, that fee is deducted from the cost if you go on to book a full assessment.
